SSL Certificate
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) uses a public key to encrypt data that is transferred
over an SSL connection. Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer support SSL.
Many Web sites use the SSL protocol to obtain confidential user information including
credit card numbers. URLs that require an SSL connection usually start with https:
instead of the usual http: protocol prefix. An SSL certificate must be installed on
the server for each website that wants to enable SSL communications.
